The name "Higashi Odori" means "East Avenue". This is the partner of Nishi Odori, "West Avenue".

The road goes south from the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) past the University of Tsukuba, El Torito, and down on to Bamiyan and Joyful Honda.
